My fellow Michael Mann enthusiast, Fabio Pirovano, posted in 2013 this behind the scenes look at the making of the Keep (well done, Fabio!). but Mann also talks about his other works to that date. It offers fascinating insight into Mann’s directing style with his actors – something that these days he just would not put inside the bonus features, which is a shame. It shows his direct input into the actors contribution, refining their tone of speech. He talks about a number of themes of his early work including his journey into making “brutal” episodic TV.
Fabio introduces his shared clip as follows:
Let there be light, from an old VHS that I own (given to me by his italian biographer Pier Maria Bocchi),Michael Mann’s THE KEEP, A quite intresting behind-the-scenes look broadcast on 1983 by The Electric Theatre Show UK.
